Let It Go...Really

To the tune of  the award-winning and ear-worming song, “Let It Go":

The “Frozen” soundtrack plays on my iPad
“Let It Go” is on repeat
My three year old thinks she’s Elsa
And I’m banned from making a peep

So I’m gonna sing it out for all the moms tonight
Even if my kid says these words aren’t right.

Don’t sing along…don’t make a sound.
My kid’s the ice queen, newly crowned.
“Frozen” stays on, that’s her decree -
Now it’s time for me!

Let it go, let it go
Can’t take this song anymore!
Let it go, let it go
Smash that iPad on the floor!

I don’t care
Which version of the song is played.
Idina or Demi…
But who’s Adele Dazeem anyway?

It’s funny how this repetition
Can push your nerves right to the edge.
Anna, Elsa, Sven, and Olaf
I want to throw you off a snowy ledge!

It’s time to listen to something new.
I don’t care what it is, One Direction will do!
Just no more of these “Frozen” songs for me -
I’m not three!

Let it go, let it go
Really, does this song ever end?
Let it go, let it go
How did I get stuck in this trend?

So here I stand
Still the soundtrack plays
And the song goes on

Not just the music, there’s so much “Frozen” crap to buy.
Dresses, toys, DVDs – my kid wants enough to make me cry!
And she won’t be happy until Elsa she becomes.
But when I buy it all
That’s when this trend is done!

Let it go, let it go
How did we get so “Frozen” obsessed?
Let it go, let it go
Elsa, please give it a rest.

Here I stand
With the last verse to play,
The song’s almost complete!
But really who’s Adele Dazeem anyway?

  1. Bwahahaha... Repetition - of EVERYTHING - is the most crazy-making part of being a mom. Songs, storybooks, TV shows... you name it and you'll be doing/hearing/seeing it over and over again. It won't go away until she's got something to replace it with. In the meantime, a glass of wine and earplugs go a long way towards surviving this particular phase of childhood.
